Important Deadlines: If you’ve been putting off tasks like PAN-Aadhaar linking, ITR filing, and advanced tax, be vigilant now. All these deadlines directly impact your banking, investment, and tax profile.
Important Deadlines: As December begins, the deadlines for many important tasks related to taxes, documents, and government schemes draw near. If you’ve been putting off tasks like PAN-Aadhaar linking, ITR filing, advance tax, ITR returns, or corrections, now’s the time to be vigilant. All these deadlines directly impact your banking, investment, and tax profile. Therefore, completing them on time is crucial. So, let’s take a look at the important tasks you should complete by December 31st, or the government won’t give you another chance.
Advance Tax Deposit Deadline
Advance tax filing is mandatory for those whose tax liability after TDS exceeds ₹10,000. December 15th is the deadline for depositing the third installment. Delays in advance tax payments could result in both interest and penalties.
Last Chance to File Belated ITR
If you failed to submit your ITR for the financial year 2024-25 on time, you have until December 31st to file a belated return. However, you will be subject to a late fee. The late fee for filing a belated ITR is ₹5,000 for those with incomes less than ₹5 lakh, and ₹5,000 for those with incomes above ₹5 lakh. If you fail to file your belated ITR by December 31st, you will not be eligible to file your return.
December 31st is the last date for PAN-Aadhaar Linking
Those with Aadhaar cards issued on or before October 1st, 2024, must link their PAN with Aadhaar by December 31st, 2025. Failure to do so will result in deactivation of the PAN. Bank services will be affected, investment and demat transactions will be halted, and ITR filing will also be disrupted. You can easily link PAN and Aadhaar through both Income Tax e-filing portal and SMS.
Ration card e-KYC is also required by December.
In many states, including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Rajasthan, the last date for ration card e-KYC has been set for December. Failure to complete e-KYC by December could result in the loss of government rations from January 2026.
PM Housing Scheme Deadline
The application deadline for the PM Housing Scheme, which provides assistance of up to ₹2.5 lakh for house construction, has been extended to December 31. Interested candidates can apply online with their Aadhaar card, income certificate, and residence certificate.
