Many people from India visit Thailand every year. If you’re planning to go there, rejoice! Thailand has implemented new visa rules that will allow travelers to stay for extended periods without a visa, making entry easier for more international travelers. This includes a digital arrival system.

How many countries will be exempted?

According to the updated Visa Waiver Scheme, passport holders from 93 countries can travel to Thailand for tourism, short-term business, or work without a visa, and can stay there for up to 60 days. It is also being said that some more countries may be added to this list. Beyond tourism, these visa rules are specifically targeted at those who wish to stay and work in Thailand for extended periods.

Non-Immigrant ED Plus Visa

Thailand has also introduced the non-immigrant ED Plus visa, which is primarily designed to permit stays in Thailand for study and work purposes. Additionally, an electronic visa system has been introduced, providing online information to reduce the hassle of paperwork at checkpoints. This system, known as the Arrival Card, replaces the previous Electronic Travel Authorization system.

The new visa rules aim to facilitate visa-on-arrival travel, allowing visa-free travel, and to make travel easier for workers, students, and travelers who wish to visit Thailand. Agencies have been notified of this new electronic visa system.

What benefits will Indian passport holders receive?

Indian passport holders can now stay in Thailand for up to 60 days without a visa for tourism, meetings, or short-term business. Previously, the limit was 60 days. This means the time limit has been nearly doubled. Starting in January 2025, Thailand has introduced a new system for Indian visa holders. This means that those wishing to travel without a visa will no longer need to apply.
