New rule for Tatkal ticket booking
Taking a big decision, the Railway Ministry has banned the booking of Tatkal tickets without Aadhaar authentication. Railways has said that the new rule will come into effect from July 1. Railways has clarified that Aadhaar card will be mandatory for booking Tatkal tickets. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav had also given this information through a tweet a few days ago. Now a circular has been issued by the Ministry of Railways. According to the circular, from July 1, 2025, only Aadhaar verified users will be able to book tickets through IRCTC website or app. After this, Aadhaar based OTP authentication will be made mandatory for booking Tatkal tickets from July 15.
Control on booking agents
According to the new rules of the railway, railway ticket agents will not be able to book tickets till 30 minutes before the opening of Tatkal ticket booking. The timing of AC coach for Tatkal is 10 am and the timing of sleeper coach is 11 am. The railway has taken strict steps after the ongoing fraud in Tatkal tickets. The railway has made it mandatory to link IRCTC account with Aadhaar. If your IRCTC account is also not linked with Aadhaar, then do it immediately.
How to link with Aadhaar
- For this, first go to the IRCTC website and login.
- Login by entering your username and password.
- Go to ‘My Account’ and click on ‘Link Your Aadhaar’ option.
- After this, enter your Aadhaar number and name.
- After filling the OTP received on the registered mobile number, submit it.
