Indian Railways Discount Offer: If you also travel by Indian Railways, then this news is useful for you. Yes, the Railways has announced great news for its millions of passengers. Now, you will receive a 3% discount on booking unreserved (general) tickets through the Railways’ RailOne app. This offer is being provided only to those making digital payments. Starting from January 14, 2026, this offer will last for the next six months. This scheme has been launched by the Railways to promote digital booking and cashless transactions.
You can avail the offer for 6 months
The 3% discount scheme will be valid until July 14, 2026. You can avail the benefit for the entire six months. The Railway Ministry has directed the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) to prepare for this. Feedback from CRIS will be provided in May 2026, after which further decisions will be made. Until now, payments made through R-Wallet on the RailOne app offered a 3% cashback. This benefit has been increased in the new scheme. Now, you can receive a direct 3% discount on the ticket price by paying through any mode, including UPI, debit card, credit card, or net banking.
This benefit will be available only on the RailOne app.
The old 3% cashback on your R-Wallet will continue, meaning the options have expanded. This offer will be available exclusively on the RailOne app. This discount will not be available for booking unreserved tickets through any other online platform, website, or third-party app. The Railways are trying to encourage more people to use the RailOne app for ticket booking.

RailOne is Indian Railways’ new all-in-one digital platform. Services previously divided into separate apps are now integrated into a single platform. This app allows you to book reserved and unreserved tickets, as well as provide live train tracking. Additionally, you can also check PNR status, check coach position information, order food during the journey, provide customer support, and resolve complaints.
How much will daily passengers benefit?
This discount is especially beneficial for those who travel daily on local trains, short-distance trains, or general coaches. For example, if your ticket costs ₹50, you’ll benefit by ₹1.50 per day. Even if you travel 20-30 times a month, you’ll easily save ₹30-50 per month. The Railways’ goal is to promote India. It’s also working to reduce long queues at railway stations. Currently, cash handling and booking take a significant amount of time.
