Create rules. About which people do not know much, so let us tell you in detail about the refund policy and conditions, which can prove to be very beneficial during your upcoming journey.

Can claim full refund

As per Indian Railways rules, passengers are entitled to a refund if the train is late. If the train is delayed by 3 hours or more, passengers can cancel their tickets and request a full refund. This right now applies to counter ticket as well as online ticket booking. This right will also be available according to your ticket status Confirmed, RAC or Waiting. So, if your ticket is confirmed and the train is late, you can get a refund.

Take advantage like this

  • If you have a counter ticket and the train is delayed by 3 hours or more, you can cancel your ticket by visiting the ticket counter of the same station and get a full refund.
  • If you have booked ticket online then you have to fill online TDR (Ticket Deposit Receipt) form. After filling the TDR form, you will get half of the ticket amount immediately and you will get the remaining amount after the completion of the train journey.

File TDR online like this

  • Login to IRCTC account.
  • Click on “Booked Ticket History”.
  • To file TDR, click on the PNR of the particular ticket and then click on “File TDR”.
  • To collect TDR, select the name of the passenger for whom you want refund.
  • Select from the list of reasons for filing TDR or click on “Others” and enter an “Others” reason.
  • Now click on the “Submit” button.
  • If you have selected the “Other” option, a text box will open. Write the reason for the refund there and submit.
  • On the TDR Filing Confirmation page, check that all the details are correct.
    Click on “OK”.
  • On the TDR Entry Confirmation page, PNR Number, Transaction ID, Reference Number, TDR Status and Reason will appear.
