IndiGo flight cancellation: IndiGo’s ongoing major trouble for the sixth consecutive day has completely disrupted passenger travel. People are upset and angry due to flight cancellations and delays. As India’s largest airline, the airline’s troubles have also led to a steep increase in airfares, further exacerbating the problems faced by passengers across the country.

As of Sunday, December 7, IndiGo has canceled 650 flights for the day. However, the airline recently said in a statement that the situation is gradually stabilizing and 137 of its 138 airports are now operating at full capacity.

Are you eligible for a refund?

Low-cost airline IndiGo on Sunday, December 7, informed affected passengers that all cancelled or rescheduled bookings with travel dates between December 5, 2025 and December 15, 2025 will receive a full refund.

According to Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) regulations, passengers are entitled to a refund or rebooking if a flight delay or cancellation is due to the airline’s fault.

How to get your refund?

  • To get a refund on a cancelled or delayed IndiGo flight, follow these simple steps:
  • First, open IndiGo’s official website or mobile app.
  • Then go to the “Manage Booking” section.
  • Check your flight status by entering your PNR number/booking reference and last name.
  • If the airline cancels your flight, you can either receive a full refund or rebook on the next available flight at no additional charge.
  • For domestic flights delayed by more than six hours, you can choose between a full refund or a full refund on another flight departing within six hours.
  • After assessing your situation, go to IndiGo’s Refunds page and select the “Cancellation / Refund for Cancelled Flight” option.
  • Next, enter your PNR, Email ID, and passenger details, and then submit the request.

How are these refunds processed?

  • If you paid for your flight booking online, the refund is processed using the same card or payment method, usually within 5-7 business days.
  • However, if you paid in cash, you’ll need to visit the ticket counter at the airport where you booked. They will process the refund once you show your flight ticket and valid ID.
  • If you booked your flight through a travel agent or third-party booking portal (such as MakeMyTrip, Yatra, etc.), your refund will be processed by that agency.

Refunds processed by the airline so far

  • The Ministry of Civil Aviation said on Sunday that IndiGo has so far processed refunds worth ₹610 crore for passengers affected by the massive flight cancellations and delays.
  • According to an earlier Mint report, as of Saturday, IndiGo had returned nearly 3,000 pieces of luggage to passengers across the country.
  • This move comes after the government directed IndiGo to complete the ticket refund process for cancelled flights by Sunday evening and ensure that the luggage left behind by passengers is delivered to their chosen address within the next two days.
