Infosys Layoffs: Infosys is preparing to lay off 400 trainee employees, know the reason

Infosys Layoffs: Infosys, one of India’s largest IT companies, is currently in the process of laying off 400 trainee employees. It is being said that these new employees have failed the evaluation test even after three consecutive attempts. What is the whole matter, let us tell you in detail.

Infosys Layoffs: Infosys, one of India’s largest IT companies, is currently in the process of laying off 400 trainee employees. It is being said that these employees have also failed in three consecutive attempts in the evaluation test. Moneycontrol has given this information in its report quoting people aware of the matter. According to the report, the layoff of these 400 trainees is almost half of the number of new recruits in October 2024. The freshers who were fired said that the exams were very difficult and were made to fail us. According to the report, these freshers were recruited in the role of System Engineer (SE) and Digital Specialist Engineer (DSE).

Three chances to pass the test

According to the report, the company said in an official statement, “At Infosys, we have a tough hiring process where all freshers, after undergoing foundational training at our Mysore campus, are expected to clear an internal assessment. All freshers get three chances to clear the test, failing which they will not be able to continue in the company, as also mentioned in their contact. This process has been in existence for more than two decades and ensures the availability of high quality talent for our clients.”

Tests were made tough to make us fail

A fired trainee told Moneycontrol, “It is unfair because the tests were very tough and were made to make us fail and we were forced to fail, many trainees fainted as the future looks bleak now.”

Sources say the company has deployed bouncers and security personnel to ensure that trainees do not have mobile phones. However, Infosys has clarified that bouncers have not been deployed. Sources said all freshers have been asked to vacate the premises by 6 pm. According to a source, freshers are being called in batches of around 50 people and are being made to sign ‘mutual separation’ letters.

Strict action has been demanded against Infosys

“In a shocking and unethical move, Infosys has started forcibly sacking around 700 campus recruits who were hired only a few months ago in October 2024,” Harpreet Singh Saluja, president and lawyer of the Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES), told ET. However, Infosys has confirmed that the number of employees to be sacked is less than 350.

NITES said it is filing an official complaint with the Ministry of Labour and Employment, seeking immediate intervention and strict action against Infosys.

“This blatant corporate exploitation cannot be allowed to continue, and we urge the government to take immediate action to uphold the rights and dignity of Indian IT workers,” Harpreet Singh Saluja of NITES said in a statement.
