The Income Tax Department has extended the last date for filing income tax returns for the financial year 2024-25 (AY 2025-26) from July 31, 2025, to September 15, 2025. The decision was taken following the delay in issuing the notification of income tax return forms.
Income Tax Return Filing Date Extended: This is the biggest relief news for taxpayers. Taxpayers still have to file returns by 31 July. But this time the Modi government has given relief to the taxpayers. Taxpayers can file returns not by 31 July but by 15 September 2025. CBDT has extended the date for filing ITR from 31 July to 15 September. This is the first time that the government has extended the date for filing returns for the first time without any demand.
Why did the government extend the date for filing ITR?
