JEE-NEET Coaching Time Fixed: To avoid excessive pressure on students, the government committee has suggested that coaching hours be limited, school syllabus be prepared according to JEE and NEET and board marks be given more importance for college admission.
JEE-NEET Coaching Time Fixed: In response to the growing coaching culture in the country and the mental stress it places on students, the central government has proposed major changes to school education. A government-appointed committee believes that strengthening the school system is essential to reduce students’ academic burden and prevent them from becoming dependent on coaching. The committee has recommended limiting coaching classes to just 2 to 3 hours daily. Additionally, school curriculums should be tailored to competitive exams like JEE and NEET, so that students do not need separate coaching.

Differences between school syllabus and competitive exams
The committee notes a significant difference between the school syllabus and competitive exam patterns. While board exams feature written and reasoning-based questions, entrance exams feature objective and multiple-choice questions. This pushes students to seek coaching. The report also revealed that many school teachers are not adequately trained to prepare for competitive exams, while coaching centers offer expert teachers, regular tests, and study materials. This is the reason why students have started relying more on coaching rather than school.
The committee also warned that starting coaching at an early age increases mental pressure on students. The idea that their entire future hinges on a single exam creates stress and fear. The lack of career guidance and counseling in schools further exacerbates this problem.

The committee’s key recommendations are as follows:
- School syllabus should be aligned with exams like JEE, NEET, and CUET.
- Coaching classes should be limited to a maximum of 2-3 hours a day.
- Board exam scores should be given more importance in college admissions.
- Strict regulations should be imposed on coaching center advertisements and claims.
- Remedial classes and guidance systems should be introduced within schools.
- Career counseling should be provided to students starting in grade 8.
- Teachers should be trained in new teaching and evaluation methods.
- Instead of rote learning, learning based on thinking and understanding should be encouraged.
Overall, the government’s focus is that schools should become the main centre for students’ preparation, the need for coaching should be reduced and children should not be put under unnecessary pressure of studies.
