Karwa Chauth 2021 Katha: What is the story of Karwa Chauth Vrat? Know here the importance of fasting for good luck

Karwa Chauth 2021 Katha: On the day of Karwa Chauth festival, which is celebrated on the Chaturthi Tithi of Kartik month, women fast for the attainment of their husband’s happy life and unbroken honeymoon. It symbolizes the consciousness of unbroken love and sacrifice between husband and wife. On this day, after a day’s fast, women seek the blessings of their husbands from God. Along with the moon, Shiva-Parvati, Ganesha and Kartikeya are also worshiped on this day. The meaning of worshiping Shiva and Parvati is to attain the power and spiritual practice like Parvati and walk shoulder to shoulder with the husband. In today’s time, Karva Chauth is a symbol of female power.

If we look at the popular stories of Karva Chauth, then women are not shown helpless or helpless, but strong. In mythology too, women are seen in a powerful role and they emerge as troublemakers for their husband and family. In a country where there are examples like Savitri, who snatched her husband Satyavan from Yamraj with her strong morale, why should the women of that country be courageous.

karva chauth story

One such story is also popular about Karva Chauth. According to him, in ancient times a woman named Karva lived in a village with her husband. Her husband went to bathe in the river. While taking a bath in the river a crocodile grabbed his leg. He called his wife for help.

Karva ran to her husband and immediately tied the crocodile with a thread. Holding her head, Karva along with her husband reached Yamraj. After answering questions with Yamraj, seeing Karva’s courage, Yamraj had to return her husband.

While leaving, he also blessed Karva with happiness and prosperity – ‘I will protect the good fortune of the woman who remembers Karva by fasting on this day.’ In this story, Karva saved her husband’s life with her strong morale. It is believed that the day Karva saved her husband’s life, it was the Chaturthi of Krishna Paksha of Kartik month.

The meaning of fasting is to make a resolution. Whether that resolution is to protect the husband, to remove the troubles of the family or any other. Only those who have strong will power can take this resolution. In a symbolic form, on Karva Chauth, women take this resolution by sacrificing food and water and test their will power. This festival indicates that the woman is not abla, but a strong woman and she can also rescue her family from the bad times.
