KGF’s Kasim Chacha passes away; actor was battling cancer

Actor Harish Rai, who played the role of Kasim Chacha in KGF, has passed away. He had been battling throat cancer, which had spread to his stomach. Due to cancer, Harish Rai was away from films for several years before returning with “KGF.”

Veteran Kannada film actor Harish Rai has passed away, sending shockwaves across the industry. Harish Rai gained popularity playing Rocky’s uncle in KGF. It is reported that he was battling cancer, even during the shooting of KGF 2. He breathed his last at Kidwai Hospital in Bengaluru. Harish Rai himself stated that he grew a beard in KGF 2 to hide the swelling on his neck caused by the cancer.

According to a Money Control report, Harish Rai was suffering from thyroid cancer, which had spread to his abdomen. This left him very weak and thin. His abdomen had become filled with fluid, causing it to swell severely.

He had taken a break from films due to cancer and returned with KGF.

Harish Rai had been undergoing treatment for cancer for quite some time, and fans were praying for his speedy recovery. Harish Rai had taken a break from films due to cancer and returned with KGF, but as the cancer began to spread, he withdrew from films again.

In 2022, Harish Rai told YouTuber Gopi Goudu that he had been battling cancer for three years. He grew a long beard in “KGF” to hide the swelling in his neck. Harish Rai explained that he lacked money, which delayed treatment. This worsened his condition.

Harish Rai said, “I postponed my surgery because I initially lacked the money. I waited until my films were released. Now that I’m in the fourth stage of cancer, my condition is worsening. I made a video asking for financial help from friends and industry members, but I couldn’t muster the courage to post it.”

Harish Rai revealed the cost of the injections.

Previously, Harish Rai had revealed the cost of treatment in a media interview. He stated that one injection cost ₹3.55 lakh. Doctors recommended three injections per cycle over 63 days. This means each cycle cost ₹10.5 lakh.
