The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has given important information to all bank account holders. Under this, it is mandatory to update KYC on time to keep your account active. RBI has also launched an awareness campaign for this across the country. WhatsApp messages are being sent by RBI on the registered mobile numbers of bank accounts. The question asked in these is whether your bank has told you that it is necessary to get re-KYC done in your account? It has also been told that to keep the account active, you will have to go to the nearest branch or panchayat camp and get your KYC updated.

How to update KYC?

For this, people can update their KYC by going to their nearest bank branch or through Panchayat Camp in rural areas. Let us know the documents that will be required. Under this,

Why is KYC necessary?

KYC i.e. Know Your Customer is a process by which the bank keeps the correct information of its customers in its records. If the bank records are not updated, it may be closed. That is, transactions from the account may stop. For this reason, RBI runs the process of updating KYC from time to time.

By when will KYC update have to be done

This special campaign of RBI has started from 01 July 2025 and will run till 30 September 2025. During this period, it is mandatory for all account holders to update KYC. It is clearly written in the posters and brochures of RBI that your bank account may be closed if KYC is not updated on time. RBI has clarified that correct and complete information related to KYC is available only on its official website. Also, customers have been appealed not to trust any suspicious link or message from unknown source.
