Ladli Behna Yojana: There is important news for women enrolled in the Maharashtra government’s ambitious Chief Minister Ladli Behna Yojana. The government has made e-KYC mandatory for all beneficiaries of this scheme. If women do not complete this process within the stipulated timeframe, their monthly financial assistance of ₹1500 may be discontinued.
Launched in July 2023, the Ladli Behna Yojana aims to provide financial assistance to women aged 21 to 65 whose family’s annual income is less than ₹2.5 lakh. However, a recent audit revealed a major scam. According to the report, the initial registration process lacked transparency, resulting in approximately 26.34 lakh ineligible individuals, including some men, fraudulently receiving benefits. To prevent such irregularities and ensure that the funds reach the rightful beneficiaries, e-KYC has now been made mandatory.
Strict instructions from the government
The state government has issued a notification (Government Resolution, or GR) in this regard. Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare shared the information on the social media platform X, stating that all beneficiaries must complete the e-KYC process within two months. The facility is available on the portal ladakibahin.maharashtra.gov.in. The minister said that this step is necessary not only to maintain transparency but also to help women access other government schemes. All eligible women are requested to complete the e-KYC process in time to ensure uninterrupted receipt of the monthly financial assistance of ₹1500.
How to complete e-KYC?
The e-KYC process is simple and user-friendly. Beneficiaries simply need to visit the official portal and link and verify their Aadhaar card details. Once this is done, their account will be verified, and they will continue to receive their monthly assistance.
