Laxman, Gambhir and Sehwag deserved better farewell: Harbhajan Singh

Harbhajan has referred to the issue of Indian cricket on which much is said in the tongue of speech, but people have generally avoided speaking anything.

The issue of farewell to New Delhi players has always been important in Indian cricket. Every player wants him to say goodbye to the game from the ground but not everyone’s dream can be fulfilled. Legendary off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has expressed his opinion on the issue. Harbhajan has mentioned some players whom he deserves a better farewell.

Harbhajan Singh has said that players like Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir and VVS Laxman should have got a better farewell.

Talking with Akash Chopra on YouTube channel, Harbhajan said that if we do not respect our players, then nobody will do it outside. He expressed disappointment that he does not want to be with someone else as he has been.

The 39-year-old spinner, who has played 103 Tests, 236 ODIs and 28 T20 Internationals for India, has taken 294 wickets in the limited-overs format. He last played a Test match against Sri Lanka in 2015, while he played the last T20 International against South Africa in the same year.

He said, ‘I always feel sad that things could have been handled better. Playing 100 Test matches is a big thing for any player. I am lucky to be among them. I agree that my performance may have declined slightly or I may not be doing as well as expected but things could have been handled better. Nobody came to talk to me. I returned from the West Indies after completing 400 wickets and after that I was dropped from the Test team and was never picked again. ‘

Harbhajan took 417 Test wickets for India. He is the third most successful bowler in India after Anil Kumble and Kapil Dev.
