The American company Amazon is once again planning large-scale layoffs. According to reports, the company plans to eliminate up to 14,000 jobs across various departments and shut down certain select teams. According to a report by *Asia Business Outlook*, these layoffs could take place globally. The impact is expected to be felt particularly in the Amazon Web Services (AWS), Retail, and HR departments. Mid-level managers and office-based employees (white-collar workers) are considered most likely to be affected.

If the company proceeds with this step, it will mark Amazon’s third major round of layoffs in less than a year. Previously, the company laid off approximately 16,000 employees in January of this year, while cuts to around 14,000 positions had already been implemented by the end of 2025.

Not the Only Company Conducting Layoffs

Amazon is not the only company to have recently laid off and downsized its workforce. Notably, just a few days ago, Oracle laid off approximately 30,000 employees worldwide by sending out emails at 6:00 AM. Of the 30,000 affected employees, 12,000 are reported to be Indian nationals. Other companies, such as Microsoft, TCS, and Accenture, have also laid off thousands of employees. According to reports, Meta is also planning to reduce its workforce by up to 15,000 employees.

Will Amazon conduct even more layoffs?

A post shared on the social media platform X—under the name “Blind Account”—raises apprehensions regarding large-scale layoffs at Amazon. A user claiming to work at Amazon wrote, “I have heard rumors of layoffs in May… I’ve heard that more than 10,000 people could be laid off.” This news has heightened anxiety among Amazon employees. Reacting to this, one user wrote, “I am already under a great deal of stress and anxiety regarding this job, and after this news, I don’t know what to do… Should I start looking for another job?”
