Life Certificate: Very few days are left to submit a life certificate. If pensioners haven’t submitted their life certificate yet, they should get it prepared and submit it soon. If you don’t submit your life certificate by November 30th, your pension will stop. Understanding the difficulties faced by pensioners, the EPFO has partnered with India Post Payments Bank (IPPB). Pensioners will be able to generate a digital life certificate from the comfort of their homes. This means the entire process will now be completed hassle-free.

What is a Life Certificate?

A life certificate, also known as a digital life certificate, is an online document that verifies that the pension recipient is alive. It operates on an Aadhaar-based digital system, and each certificate has a unique number. Once the certificate is generated, it is automatically sent to the pension-issuing institution, ensuring uninterrupted pension payments.

How will this service be available from the comfort of your home?

This partnership between EPFO and IPPB will utilize the vast network of post offices. Over 165,000 post offices and over 300,000 postal employees across the country will now visit pensioners’ homes to prepare their digital life certificates. These devices will incorporate both fingerprint and facial biometric systems, ensuring accurate identification. Most importantly, this entire service will be completely free for EPFO pensioners.

When should the certificate be submitted?

Updating the life certificate is required every year in November. This time, the deadline for all pensioners is from November 1st to November 30th, 2025.

How to get a life certificate?

There are several options available to simplify this process. Those who wish to process it digitally can generate the certificate on the Jeevan Pramaan portal by connecting a biometric device to their mobile, laptop, or tablet. Additionally, pensioners can also visit the nearest Jeevan Pramaan Center, such as a bank, CSC center, or government office. The address of the nearest center can be easily found on the website jeevanpramaan.gov.in.
