Like your Aadhaar card, you can now download your Voter ID Card online as well. The Election Commission is going to start it on Monday. Using the e-EPIC facility, you can now download a PDF copy or soft copy of your voter ID from home, on your mobile phone or personal computer.
According to Election Commission officials, it will be possible to keep the e-voter ID card safe in the digital locker as well. Also it can be printed in digital format. The way to download it is very easy. As soon as you download the Aadhaar card from the UIDAI website, you will be able to download your digital voter ID from the Election Commission site.
Election Commission officials have said that at present it takes time for printing of Voter ID and reaching people. At the same time, after the introduction of this new facility, people will be able to easily download their voter ID card. Today, most services related to Aadhar card, PAN card and driving license are available online.
The Election Commission is launching this facility in two phases. In the first phase i.e. from 25 January to 31 January, only new voters who have applied for voter cards and whose mobile number is registered with the Election Commission will be able to download the digital voter ID.
From February 1, all voters will be able to download a digital copy of their ID provided that their mobile number is linked to the Election Commission. Those whose mobile numbers are not linked with the Commission, they will have to re-verify their details to the EC and get the mobile number linked. Only then will they be able to download the voter ID.
Digital voter ID cards will also be in PDF format like Aadhaar. It will also be possible to keep them safe in a digital locker. Also it can be printed in digital format. Digital voter ID cards will have a secured QR code containing photographs and demographics so that they cannot be duplicated.
