Excise Policy: The Andhra Pradesh government has released the notification of its new liquor policy on Tuesday. The Chandrababu Naidu government has fixed the price of liquor in the state at Rs 99. The state government claims that with its help, not only illegal liquor will be curbed but also local companies will get a chance to make cheap branded liquor. The government hopes that the state will be able to earn a revenue of about Rs 5500 crore from its new excise policy. This policy will come into effect from October 12. Apart from this, 3,736 liquor shops will also be opened in the state.

The state government issued a notification of the excise policy and claimed that it has been prepared taking inspiration from states like Haryana. Now liquor shops in the state have been privatized. Now branded liquor will be available in the state for Rs 99 or cheaper. Liquor sales have been decreasing in the state for the last 5 years. Now the government hopes that this will increase and the state will be able to join the top 3 markets of the country. The new excise policy has been implemented for two years at present. This will ensure stability in the companies and more and more retailers will be able to join it.
Prices were increasing continuously for 5 years, sales were decreasing
Liquor prices have increased continuously in Andhra Pradesh during the last 5 years, due to which sales have declined. According to the organization running the beer industry in the country, now investment in the state can also increase. About 300 to 500 crore rupees are spent on each brewery. Due to the new policy, more and more companies will want to come to the state. According to the excise policy, the license will be given through online lottery. There will be 4 types of licenses in the state, whose fees have been kept between Rs 50 lakh and Rs 85 lakh. Shop owners will be given 20 percent profit on sales. Apart from this, the license of 12 premium shops can be taken for 5 years for Rs 1 crore.
