District Excise Officer Subodh Kumar Srivastava informed that there are currently 155 permanent bar license holders in the district. All operators and managers have been instructed to pay special attention to age at their establishments. If any person below the age of 21 is found drinking or being served alcohol, immediate action will be taken against the concerned bar owner.
Complaints of ruckus have increased
In fact, in recent times, complaints of underage youth drinking alcohol and creating ruckus late at night in pubs and bars in the district have been continuously coming up. On many occasions, incidents of serving alcohol to minors and youth below 21 years of age were also found in birthday parties, marriage anniversaries and other family events. This is not only a legal violation but also affecting public order.
License will be canceled
The Excise Department has said that such teenagers or youth coming with family to pubs and bars will not be given alcohol under any circumstances. If this is found, not only will a financial penalty be imposed but action can be taken to cancel the license of the operator and close the bar.
