Lok Adalat on September 13: The next National Lok Adalat will be held on 13 September 2025, where pending traffic challans can either be waived off or reduced. The Lok Adalat provides an opportunity to settle minor to major challans at lower costs or have them cancelled. However, certain serious traffic violations will not be considered.
Traffic Challans eligible for waiver
Challans related to minor violations will be waived or reduced. These include:
- Driving without seat belt
- Riding without helmet
- Jumping red light
- Wrongly issued challan
- Over-speeding
- Not having PUC certificate
- Wrong parking
- Driving without licence
- No vehicle fitness certificate
- Driving in wrong lane
- Ignoring traffic signs
- Driving without number plate
- Challans not eligible for waiver
The Lok Adalat will not hear cases involving serious violations. These include:
- Drunk driving
- Hit-and-run cases
- Death caused by negligent driving
- Driving by minors
- Unauthorized racing or speed trials
- Vehicles used in criminal activities
- Traffic challans pending in court cases
- Challans issued in other states
Mandatory registration before attending
To participate, people must first complete online registration. After applying, a token number and appointment letter will be issued, which will contain the date and time for appearance. On the hearing day, individuals must carry the appointment letter, token, and required documents. Authorities advise reaching at least one hour before the allotted time.
Other disputes that can be settled
Along with traffic challans, the Lok Adalat will also hear civil cases such as family disputes, property matters, and other pending small court cases. Judges will listen to both parties and close the case after passing an order. Lok Adalats are held under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987.

- Fill in the form and upload required documents.
- Submit the form to receive a token number via email or phone.
Cases will be called according to the token number on the day of hearing. Applicants must ensure they carry all related documents, including original vehicle papers and challan details, if the case is related to traffic fines.
