MCD: Good news for Delhi residents! The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has extended the deadline for its one-time property tax amnesty scheme, ‘SUNIYO’. The scheme’s original deadline was September 30th, but now the final date for the SUNIYO-2025-26 scheme has been extended by three months.
MCD: Good news for Delhi residents! The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has extended the timeline for its one-time property tax amnesty scheme, ‘SUNIYO’. Previously, the scheme was scheduled to end on September 30th. Now, the deadline for the SUNIYO-2025-26 scheme has been extended by three months. People can now avail of this scheme until December 31st. The original deadline was September 30th.
The terms and conditions of the scheme will remain largely the same under the new timeline. However, those who pay their taxes between October 1st and December 31st will have to pay an additional 2% late fee on the basic tax amount.
The scheme was launched on June 1st, and so far, 1.16 lakh taxpayers have participated. The MCD has collected approximately ₹370 crore through this scheme. Notably, 65,874 new property owners paid their taxes for the first time, contributing ₹187.8 crore in revenue.
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has collected a total of ₹2,111 crore in property tax so far during the financial year 2025-26. This is 22.5% higher than last year, and the number of tax payers has also increased by 18%. The MCD states that extending the deadline will allow more people to benefit from the scheme and will strengthen the tax base.
