This 23 km long metro corridor from Modipuram to Meerut South will start from Modipuram Depot station and end at Meerut South.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the Meerut Metro along with the remaining portion of the Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor on February 22nd. This 23-km-long metro corridor, from Modipuram to Meerut South, will have a total of 13 stations. The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) began work on the Meerut Metro project in 2019, and it is now operational after seven years. The most significant feature of the Meerut Metro will be that it will operate on the Namo Bharat tracks. Furthermore, it will be directly connected to Namo Bharat, stopping at stations built for Namo Bharat along its journey.
Meerut Metro will have these 13 stations
This 23-km-long metro corridor from Modipuram to Meerut South will begin at the Modipuram Depot Station and end at Meerut South. After leaving Modipuram Depot, it will reach Meerut South via Modipuram, Meerut North, Daurli, MES Colony, Begumpul, Bhainsali, Meerut Central, Brahmapuri, Shatabdi Nagar, Rithani, Partapur. During its journey, Meerut Metro will stop at the stations built for Namo Bharat in Modipuram, Begumpul, Shatabdi Nagar and Meerut South. However, these stations will have separate platforms for Namo Bharat and Meerut Metro. Passengers who want to travel from Modipuram to Delhi can get down at Meerut South and board the Namo Bharat train.
What will be the Meerut Metro’s timings?
The Meerut Metro will operate at a speed of 120 km/h. Each Meerut Metro train will carry 700 passengers. Passengers will receive a metro train every 7 minutes. Special arrangements for drinking water, washrooms, and disabled access have been made at all Meerut Metro stations. This is the first phase of the Meerut Metro, after which work will begin on a 13-km section in the second phase. The Meerut Metro will operate from 6 am to 10 pm, Monday through Saturday. On Sundays, services will begin at 8 am and close at 10 pm. With the launch of metro services, Meerut will become the sixth city in Uttar Pradesh to have metro services. Besides the UP capital, Lucknow, metro services already operate in Kanpur, Agra, Noida, and Ghaziabad.
