Metro Timings Changed for Holi: In view of the Holi festival, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has issued an important notice for passengers. This year, Holi will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 4, 2026. Temporary changes have been made to the Delhi Metro’s timings on the festival day to better manage security and order. Let’s find out what time the Delhi Metro will operate on Holi.

According to the DMRC, services will be suspended on all Delhi Metro lines from 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM on March 4, 2026. This includes the Airport Express Line. This means that no metro trains will be available on any line during the morning hours on this day. Metro services will resume from all terminal stations after 2:30 PM and will then operate as per normal schedule until nightfall.

Why the change in timings?

The Metro administration has taken this decision to ensure safety, cleanliness, and crowd control during Holi. People celebrate Holi with colors on the streets and in public places. Consequently, there is a possibility of increased crowding and chaos at stations and trains during the morning hours. Therefore, as a precautionary measure, morning services have been suspended.

DMRC Principal Executive Director (Corporate Communications) Anuj Dayal stated that this arrangement will only be in effect for Holi. Metro services will resume their normal schedule from March 5, 2026. He urged passengers to plan their travels in advance and avoid relying on the metro in the morning or before noon.

Passengers have been advised to use buses, autos, cabs, or private vehicles if they need to travel on the morning of March 4th. Also, check the DMRC’s official website or mobile app for updates before traveling.

It’s worth noting that starting metro services in the afternoon on Holi has been a tradition for many years. This ensures the safety of both employees and passengers, and allows people to enjoy the festival peacefully. Therefore, before traveling on Holi, be sure to check the timings and plan your trips accordingly.
