Microsoft to allow sign-in without using password

Microsoft has announced the feature of sign-in without using password. Microsoft users will now be able to sign in to their Outlook accounts and OneDrive without using a password.


It is to be noted that earlier the facility of sign-in without password was available only for commercial users. Now the company plans to permanently remove the password from the enterprise account. That is, now this feature will be started for all Microsoft users.

According to TechCrunch, Microsoft plans to end password-based sign-in. However, users will now have to use the Microsoft Authenticator app Windows Hello instead of the password.

According to Microsoft, “passwordless shall mean removing the password and using passwordless technology for sign-in.” The company provides Windows Hello, Microsoft Authenticator app, SMS or email codes and physical security keys for passwordless sign-in. Will do

The company believes that passwords can be easily guessed, stolen or phishing. But, fingerprint authentication can only be provided by you or the right response on the mobile at the right time.


Microsoft says on the FAQ page that once you remove your password from your account, you can sign in using a passwordless method such as the Microsoft Authenticator app, Windows Hello, Physical Security Keys, or SMS codes. For this, you need to download and install the Microsoft Authenticator app before removing the password.

For this, you can download and install Microsoft Authenticator app on the website https://aka.ms/Authapp on your smartphone. Apart from this, you can also download and install from App Store or Play Store.

After opening the account, follow the instructions and prompts to enter the credentials to sign-in to the additional security option of the Microsoft account, select Turn On and follow the prompts to verify the account. After this, accept the request sent to the Microsoft Authenticator app.
