Namo Bharat – Uber: A major problem of passengers traveling in India’s first high-speed Namo Bharat train running between Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut has been solved. To ease the challenge of reaching your final destination after getting down at the station, cab service giant Uber has joined hands with the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC). A major partnership has been signed between the two, which will make the journey of Namo Bharat truly ‘end-to-end’ i.e. from home to office and office to home very easy and comfortable.

What is this new partnership and its benefits?

Uber and NCRTC have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening ‘last-mile’ connectivity on the Namo Bharat Corridor. ‘Last-mile’ connectivity means the convenience of reaching your final destination (eg home, office, college) from the metro or train station.

Under this partnership, Uber cars, autos and two-wheelers (motos) will be readily available as soon as you disembark at every operational station on NaMo Bharat. In the initial phase, this facility will be available at all operational stations like Anand Vihar, Sahibabad, Ghaziabad and Meerut South. As the rest of the corridor opens up, this facility will be extended to all 25 stations. For the convenience of passengers, a dedicated Uber pick-up point will be set up at every station, clear directional boards will be installed inside the station to reach the Uber pick-up point, and announcements will also be made about this facility inside the train.

Attractive introductory offers for new users

To make this big partnership a success, Uber has also come up with a very attractive introductory offer for new users. If a new user signs up on the Uber app, he will get up to 25% discount (maximum ₹75 per ride) on his first 5 cab trips. At the same time, if he prefers to travel by Moto (bike taxi), he will get a huge discount of up to 50% (maximum ₹30 per ride) on his first 5 Moto rides. Both these offers will be valid for 15 days after signing up.

Why is this partnership a ‘game-changer’?

This is not just an agreement between a cab company and a train service, it is a big and smart step towards solving the problem of traffic and pollution in Delhi-NCR. Manish Bindrani, Head of Supply, Uber India, said, “We are proud to support one of India’s most ambitious transit projects. Our goal is to make it easier for every Namo Bharat train passenger to complete their journey.” Similarly, Shalabh Goyal, Managing Director, NCRTC, said, “This partnership with Uber will provide a convenient and integrated travel experience to passengers. Its aim is to attract people towards public transport, which will help in significantly reducing vehicle congestion and air pollution.

” What will be the impact on the life of the common man?

This partnership will make the life of common passengers much easier. Now there will be less need to take out your car or bike to travel from Meerut or Ghaziabad to Delhi. People can travel comfortably by Namo Bharat and use Uber to go further from the station, which will save both their time and money. When more and more people leave their personal vehicles and use public transport, there will be less traffic jam on the roads and the level of pollution will also decrease.

Conclusion

This partnership between Uber and NCRTC is a great example of ‘smart mobility’. It shows how technology can be used effectively to improve passenger experience and also solve major problems of cities (like traffic and pollution). When fully operational, the Namo Bharat Corridor is expected to benefit more than 8 lakh passengers daily. And now with Uber, the journey of these 8 lakh passengers is going to be more comfortable, cheaper and smarter than ever before.
