New Delhi Railway Station will soon introduce a QR code-based system for safe passenger entry and crowd management. An AI-based surveillance system will also be implemented, providing immediate alerts for suspicious activity.
New Delhi. To make the entry of passengers at New Delhi Railway Station, one of the busiest railway stations in the country, more secure and systematic, a pilot project of QR Code based entry management system will be started soon.
This system will be somewhat similar to that of metro stations, which will ensure entry of only verified passengers at the station. Along with this, AI (Artificial Intelligence) based surveillance system will also be implemented in the station premises.
Under this, every part of the station like platforms, concourse, entry-exit points and such places from where there is a possibility of unauthorized entry will be monitored through cameras.
AI will provide immediate information about suspicious activities.
An exception event display-based control room will also be set up at the station. Live camera feeds will be analyzed using AI technology. Monitoring staff will receive immediate alerts if any unusual or unsafe activity is detected.
Railway Minister reviews preparations
These improvements were decided upon at a meeting chaired by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav. The meeting reviewed progress on measures related to station accessibility, passenger amenities, and security.
Implemented first at New Delhi station, then at other stations
According to officials, this new system will be implemented first at New Delhi Railway Station. It will then be rolled out in a phased manner at other major railway stations across the country.
Railway officials stated that this pilot project will be launched soon so that an effective system can be implemented before the heavy rush during festivals like Diwali and Chhath.
