New expressway to be built in NCR, 2-hour journey to be completed in 30 minutes

New Expressway in NCR: Delhi-NCR will soon have another expressway. Construction of this expressway will begin alongside the completion of Jewar Airport. This 30-kilometer expressway will help alleviate traffic congestion.

New Delhi. To improve connectivity in Delhi-NCR, another expressway will be built. This 30-kilometer expressway will connect Delhi, Noida, and Greater Noida, radiating directly from Jewar Airport to Delhi. This new road will run parallel to the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, cross the Yamuna River, and connect with Pushta Road. This road will run parallel to the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and the Yamuna Expressway to reach Delhi.

This project was first promoted by Gautam Buddha Nagar MP Mahesh Sharma, and now Union Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has also expressed his support. During his recent visit to Jewar Airport, Gadkari announced funding for the project. He stated that the new expressway will pave a new path for development in Delhi-NCR. Currently, it takes about 2 hours to cover this distance, which can be completed in just 30 minutes with the new expressway.

Projects worth Rs 1.20 lakh crore underway in the NCR

Nitin Gadkari stated that this project is part of a series of ongoing projects in Delhi-NCR. Currently, projects worth approximately Rs 1.20 lakh crore are underway in the NCR, half of which have already been completed. The government is prepared to invest another Rs 40,000 to Rs 50,000 crore in the coming years. To ease traffic congestion on the Noida-Greater Expressway, the Noida Authority approved the construction of a new expressway parallel to the Yamuna River in March 2025, and work on this will now begin.

Traffic congestion will be reduced

The Noida-Greater Noida Expressway currently faces heavy traffic. Around 500,000 vehicles pass through this road daily, often leading to traffic jams. Currently, approximately 200,000 vehicles pass through DND alone, while the remaining traffic comes from Chilla Border, Kalindi Kunj, and major Noida sectors such as 15, 16, 18, and 37. This causes severe traffic jams during peak hours. The new expressway will allow vehicles coming from Delhi to reach Jewar Airport without getting stuck in the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway.

The airport is about to open.

The new expressway is being built specifically for Jewar Airport. According to the UP government, Jewar Airport will be fully operational by the end of 2025, after which a new expressway will be needed. The UP Chief Secretary has stated that Noida, Greater Noida, and Yamuna Expressway have been asked to share funding, but all three authorities believe that the NHAI should build the expressway to ensure proper utilization of funds received from the central government and other sources.
