Longest Flyover: The country’s longest flyover is going to be built in Delhi. The Centre and NHAI have given their approval for this and soon the study on the project will begin. This 20 km signal free flyover will cost around Rs 5000 crore.
New Flyover: To make the capital Delhi signal free and free from traffic jams, work is being started on new projects continuously. Now the way has been cleared for the construction of a 20 km long new signal free flyover in Delhi. The National Highway Authority (NHAI) and the Central Government have also approved this project. This flyover will provide signal free connectivity from South Delhi to IGI Airport and Gurugram.
This signal free flyover will start from AIIMS located in South Delhi and will go till Mahipalpur in Southeast Delhi. Later this road will be extended and connected to Gurugram-Faridabad Road. The cost of building this 20 km elevated corridor will be around Rs 5 thousand crore. Once this flyover is built, the distance to the airport can be covered in just 20 minutes.
What is the arrangement now
The NHAI official said that currently the ring road and outer ring road are the only means of connectivity to reach the airport and Gurugram from Noida, Ghaziabad and East Delhi. This route can be reached via DND flyover and Faridabad. There is heavy traffic on the Delhi-Gurugram highway and NH-48 during peak hours, which often leads to traffic jams.
How will the flyover be useful
An official associated with the project said that this corridor will start from AIIMS and connect Nelson Mandela Marg in Vasant Kunj. The central government is preparing to build a tunnel on Nelson Mandela Marg. This 5 km long tunnel will directly connect the airport and Dwarka Expressway. This corridor will be merged with the tunnel, while another corridor will be constructed from Gurugram and Faridabad.
The flyover will also connect these areas
According to a senior official, the flyover will go from AIIMS to Nadir Marg and further it will connect Mehrauli-Gurugram Road, as well as Gurugram-Faridabad Road. In this way it will work as a parallel corridor between Delhi and Gurugram.
Big relief to these areas
At present, the inner ring road is connected through Noida, Ashram and DND, while the outer ring road comes from Kalindi Kunj. Many areas are connected by these two roads. It also connects Lajpat Nagar, Maharani Bagh, Moolchand, South Extension, Nizamuddin, Greater Kailash, Panchsheel Enclave, Pomposh Enclave, Chirag Delhi, Nehru Place, CR Park and other areas of South Delhi. After the construction of the new corridor, the people of these areas will get a lot of relief.
