New Indian Currency: RBI (Reserve Bank of India) has made a big announcement regarding 100 and 200 rupee notes. Actually, RBI is going to issue new 100 and 200 rupee notes soon, but there will be no change in the design of these notes. RBI has informed that these new notes will have the signature of Governor Sanjay Malhotra. This is a normal process where notes with the signature of every new governor are issued after he takes charge.

Will old notes go out of circulation?

RBI has clarified that the old 100 and 200 rupee notes will remain valid and there is no need to change them. These notes will soon be available in banks and ATMs. Let us now know where people use cash the most. Along with this, we will also know how the cash flow was in India after the ban on two thousand rupee notes.

How much cash is being used in India-

According to RBI data, despite the ban on two thousand rupee notes, the circulation of cash in the country has increased significantly. In March 2017, it was Rs 13.35 lakh crore, which has increased to Rs 35.15 lakh crore by March 2024.

Apart from this, digital transactions through UPI are also increasing rapidly. In March 2020, UPI transactions were 2.06 lakh crores, while by February 2024 it increased to 18.07 lakh crores. Whereas, if we talk about the whole of 2024, this year the digital transactions have been around 172 billion.

In which states the most money is withdrawn from ATM-

According to reports, in the financial year 2024, the most money was withdrawn from ATMs in Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Karnataka. The main reason for this is the increasing demand for cash during festivals and elections. Apart from this, due to limited access to digital payments in rural areas, people also prefer cash transactions, due to which an increase in ATM withdrawals was seen in these states.
