New International Airport: Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) has now taken another decisive step towards its operationalization. The airport administration has successfully completed the first passenger simulation test conducted on November 29 and 30. Regular flights are going to start at the airport from December 25, hence this test is considered very important. According to Navi Mumbai International Airport, the entire airport operations were rehearsed by making hundreds of volunteers passengers. In this, all the steps from check-in, security check, boarding process to baggage claim were thoroughly examined. Airlines like IndiGo, Akasa and Air India Express participated in this trial.
₹19,650 crore
Navi Mumbai International Airport was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 8th. Being built at a cost of approximately ₹19,650 crore, it is considered one of the largest greenfield airports in the country. It is expected that Navi Mumbai International Airport will play a significant role in alleviating the growing passenger pressure at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.

The operationalization of Navi Mumbai International Airport is poised to be a major milestone for the residents of Navi Mumbai and the entire Mumbai Metropolitan Region. All eyes are now on December 25th, the day the first commercial flight takes off from here.
