New LPG Booking Rules: Big update for LPG users! Gas cylinders will no longer be available without an OTP, a new rule also applies.

OTP verification is now becoming mandatory for LPG gas cylinder delivery in all states. Without it, cylinders will not be delivered. Additionally, a 25-day gap is required between gas bookings in cities and 45 days in villages.

Gas Cylinder OTP Mandatory Rules

A major change is being seen in the delivery of LPG gas cylinders across the country. A system is gradually being implemented that requires customers to provide an OTP (one-time password) to receive a cylinder. The OTP system is largely implemented in major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, and Jaipur, where cylinders are not delivered without an OTP.

This is why the OTP rule is being implemented.

This is why the OTP rule is being implemented. Previously, there were frequent complaints that cylinders were shown as delivered without actually being delivered, or that the wrong person was given the cylinder. Similarly, some people would accumulate stock by making repeated bookings, causing problems for other users. To address these issues, the system is now being digitized. OTP verification is a major step in this direction.

This is how the OTP system works in LPG delivery.

The OTP system is a method used to ensure that gas cylinders reach the right customers. When you book a cylinder, an OTP is sent to your registered mobile number upon delivery. Upon arrival, the delivery person asks for this OTP and confirms delivery by entering it into their device. In many locations, delivery is not considered complete until the OTP is entered. This system, also known as the “Delivery Authentication Code,” was introduced to prevent fraudulent deliveries.

New LPG Booking Rules: 25-Day and 45-Day Gap

Another major change has been made to the OTP system, directly affecting users. According to the new rule, users living in cities will have to wait at least 25 days before making their next gas booking. In rural areas, this time limit has been set at 45 days. This is intended to prevent people from stockpiling by booking more cylinders than they need, and to ensure everyone receives gas on time.

What Users Need to Do

If the OTP system is implemented in your area, you’ll need to have your mobile phone handy when collecting the cylinder. You’ll need to share the OTP received upon delivery with the delivery person before your delivery is considered complete. Additionally, you’ll need to keep the new gap rule in mind when booking to avoid rejection.

Important points to keep in mind

Share the OTP only at the time of delivery and do not share it with anyone else. If an attempt is made to claim delivery without the OTP, immediately report it to the gas agency. Also, be sure to check the seal and leakage of the cylinder upon receiving it to ensure safety.
