Air India Maharaja Lounge: Air India is now making major changes from ground to sky to regain its former glory. Air India is set to open its first flagship “Maharaja Lounge” at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (T3). Spanning 16,000 square feet, this lounge is not just a waiting area but a “power statement” for Tata Group-owned Air India. Opening for passengers on February 16th, the lounge is a unique blend of modern amenities and Indian art, designed by global design firm Hirsch Bedner Associates.
What’s special about the Maharaja Lounge?
The lounge is divided into several zones so that every passenger can spend time according to their preferences. It features a “live cooking” station serving Indian and international cuisine. A special “beverage on wheels” trolley service will deliver cocktails to your seat. The “Aviators Bar” offers a selection of the finest wines and whiskeys from around the world.
If you need to work, “The Globetrotter Study” offers a quiet environment with high-speed Wi-Fi. For relaxation, recliners have been installed in the “Serenity Area.” A separate “Crystal Bar” and “Private Sleep Chambers” have been created for first-class passengers, offering direct runway views.
Who will be eligible?
This exclusive lounge is not open to everyone, and currently, paid entry is not available. Currently, entry is only available to the following passengers:
Premium Class: First Class or Business Class passengers on Air India’s international flights.
Loyalty Members: Gold and Platinum members of the Maharaja Club (a frequent flyer program).
Star Alliance Elite: Gold members of Star Alliance who travel in Business or First Class on any member airline.
How much will it cost?
There is still some uncertainty regarding the cost of lounge services. Generally, food and standard drinks are free for premium passengers. However, certain premium brands of alcohol or special services may incur additional fees. Most importantly, without the required ticket or membership, entry cannot be obtained even if you pay. This move by Air India clearly indicates its desire to re-establish its dominance in the international luxury travel market.
