New Metro Corridor: Proposal to build a new corridor to connect Yashobhoomi Metro Station to IFFCO Chowk in Gurugram

New Metro Corridor: There is a plan to connect Yashobhoomi Metro Station located in Sector-25 of Dwarka, Delhi to Iffco Chowk Metro Station. It has been made by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). DMRC has shared this proposal with the Haryana government. They have sought approval from them to prepare the DPR of this metro line.

11 km corridor

Discussions are currently being held by the Haryana government in this regard. According to this proposal of DMRC, the length of this metro line will be about 11 km. It will start from Yashobhoomi, which will go from Bharthal, Bijwasan, Carterpuri, in front of Tau Devi Lal Park in Sector-23 towards Iffco Chowk on Delhi-Jaipur Highway. When the DPR is ready, it will be known how many metro stations will be built on this metro line and how much it will cost. At present, it is decided that an interchange station will be built at Sector-23 station of the proposed Old Gurugram Metro of Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL).

Who will benefit?

With this, passengers coming from Delhi will be able to easily reach the industrial and IT units developed in Udyog Vihar, DLF Cyber ​​City, Hero Honda Chowk, Subhash Chowk, Sector-44. If the plan of this new metro line succeeds, then it will be easy for the people of Gurugram to go to DMRC’s Delhi Airport Line. Traveling from Delhi’s Blue Line to Sector-21 of Dwarka will become easier. This proposal of DMRC has not yet received the approval of the Haryana government.

The Chief Secretary will review the construction on September 17

Gurugram. Haryana Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi will review the construction of Old Gurugram Metro on September 17. Guidelines will be issued to the officials of the concerned departments to remove the obstacles coming in the construction.

In the second high-level meeting, the dispute of Cyber ​​City Metro Station on Delhi-Jaipur Highway will be resolved. The National Capital Region Transport Corporation has proposed the station of Namo Bharat Train in front of DLF Cyber ​​City. In such a situation, HSIIDC has argued that if this station is built here, then there will be a traffic jam at Shankar Chowk. The Chief Secretary will settle the issues of the obstacles in the construction of the metro from Hero Honda Chowk to Umang Bhardwaj Chowk, the obstacles in the construction of the metro depot, the problem of debris in the construction of the casting yard in the auto market located in Sector 10, and the dispute related to land acquisition.

This DPR has not been approved yet

The Haryana government has prepared a DPR to connect Rejangla Chowk on Palam Vihar Road to Sector-21 of Dwarka. The construction of the metro line is to cost Rs 1891.56 crore. There is a plan to build seven elevated stations. The DPR was approved by the Haryana government and sent to the Union Urban Housing Ministry, but it has not been approved yet. This DPR was sent to the Central Government in November 2022. Under this project, the metro station was ready on the land of Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) behind the DMRC metro station in Sector-21 of Dwarka, but RLDA has allotted this land to a company.

Emphasis on improving traffic system

Principal Advisor and retired Chief Secretary of Urban Development DS Dhesi reviewed the construction of Old Gurugram Metro on Wednesday evening. Officers of GMRL, GMDA and Traffic Police were present in the meeting. GMRL officials said that the construction of metro pillars will start from next month. They shared the traffic plan with the Chief Advisor regarding the construction of Old Gurugram Metro. According to sources, they were told that the construction of Old Gurugram Metro will start from next month. During the construction of Millennium City Center Metro Station, traffic will be closed on the flyover coming from Z Chowk to Arya Samaj Road.

Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL) has started work under the first phase of Old Gurugram Metro. Pile testing is being done by piling machine in front of GMDA office located in Sector-44. For its construction, cutting of trees has been started on the main road of Bakhtawar Chowk and Sector-9. Under this 28.5 km long project, 27 stations are to be constructed, which will cost Rs 5452 crore.
