Delhi: With the opening of the Delhi Metro’s Pink Line extension, areas like Burari, Jharoda Majra, Jagatpur, and Wazirabad have now received better public transportation options. This has created a new route connecting these areas of Outer Delhi to the Yamuna River. It has also created a long-awaited circular metro line in Delhi.

On the second day of the metro service’s launch, we began our journey on this line from Majlis Park. It was around 1 pm. From the Majlis Park Metro station, most passengers were seen heading towards Azadpur, Netaji Subhash Place, Rajouri Garden, and Saket in the circular direction of the Pink Line.

The new metro will make travel easier.

On the other hand, the other direction, which runs from Azadpur to Burari via Burari and Jagatpur, towards Maujpur-Babarpur, saw relatively few people. We waited on the platform for the metro to Burari. As soon as the metro arrived, the train appeared as clean and attractive as always. The line had been inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, so the train was still decorated with flowers.

Traffic Relief

As we disembarked at the Burari metro station, many school teachers, women, children, and the elderly were seen boarding the metro. Some women told us that previously, it used to take two to three hours to travel to areas like Maujpur, Bhajanpura, Shahdara, and Welcome via Jagatpur and Burari.

People were excited

In many areas of Sonia Vihar and Yamuna Par, people were seen excited, both inside the metro and looking out the windows of their areas. Some passengers were even seen trying to figure out which metro would go where at the Majlis Park and Maujpur-Babarpur stations.

Time Savings

At the Burari Metro Station, people said that areas like Burari, Jharoda Majra, Jagatpur, and Sonia Vihar have received better transportation. Previously, they used to travel from Burari to the GTB Metro via the Fast Train Service, Gramin Seva, or e-rickshaws. This is saving both time and money.

Work is ongoing

Work is still ongoing at some metro stations. For example, at the Samaypur Badli station, work is currently underway on elevators and escalators for access to the Majlis Park-Deepali Chowk section of the Yellow Line. Meanwhile, the Burari Metro Station does not yet have parking facilities for bikes and scooters, despite a long-standing demand for a metro station.

What Passengers Are Saying

There has been a long-standing demand for a metro station in Burari. Previously, one had to travel to GTB Nagar to take the metro. This has brought significant relief. – Himanshu
