New railway line: The proposed new rail line project, from Rewari in Haryana to Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, via Neemrana, has received administrative approval. The Railway Ministry has approved the Final Location Survey (FLS) for this 191-kilometer-long new rail line. A total of ₹57.3 million will be spent on this survey.
Following approval from the Ministry of Railways, a detailed project report (DPR) will now be prepared for the project. The DPR will include a detailed study of the proposed rail route’s exact route, potential stations, land acquisition requirements, bridges and culverts, environmental considerations, construction costs, and passenger and freight traffic potential.
This proposed rail line will play a vital role in directly connecting the industrial and commercial areas of Haryana and Rajasthan. The Neemrana region, in particular, is home to several large industries, including a Japanese industrial zone. New rail connectivity will make freight transportation easier and cheaper. This will reduce industrial production costs and increase investment opportunities in the region.
The project is also expected to significantly benefit the public. Currently, people must travel between Rewari and Jaipur by rail or road. With the new line, travel time will be reduced and direct rail access will be available. This will benefit daily commuters, students, businessmen, and tourists alike.
The new rail line is also expected to provide rail connectivity to many towns and villages in the region for the first time. Railway projects are typically completed in several phases. First, a precise ground survey of the potential route is conducted through a FLS. This is followed by the preparation of a DPR, which, upon approval, is then used for budget allocation and construction work begins.
If all processes are completed on time, the Rewari-Jaipur via Neemrana rail line could become an important transportation corridor for North India. This project will not only accelerate industrial development but also strengthen connectivity between Haryana and Rajasthan.
