Now, passengers will no longer need to go to the counter to purchase tickets; instead, the tickets will be delivered to them. Under a plan by the Northern Railway Lucknow Division, railway employees will now roam the station platforms selling tickets.
New railway ticketing system: During festive seasons like Dussehra, Diwali, and Chhath, railway stations are crowded. People have to wait in long queues, especially at unreserved ticket counters. In this situation, Northern Railway has launched a new initiative that brings significant relief to passengers. Passengers will no longer need to rush to the counter to get tickets; the tickets will be delivered to them. Under a new initiative by the Northern Railway Lucknow Division, railway employees will now roam the station platforms selling tickets, much like hawkers do. This new system has been named M-UTS. This system is being implemented to control crowds during festivals and provide better convenience to passengers. So, let’s explore the new railway ticketing system.
What is the new railway ticketing system?
The new railway ticketing system, M-UTS, is a mobile ticketing machine similar to the ticket machines used in roadways buses. This machine is lightweight and requires no wires. This means that railway personnel can walk around the platform and issue tickets for passengers while standing there. Passengers will be able to purchase tickets from this machine. This will be especially beneficial for passengers who need to travel quickly and avoid the crowds at the counters.
Where will the facility be available?
The Railways has decided to implement M-UTS in the first phase at four major stations: Charbagh Railway Station, Ayodhya Railway Station, Varanasi Railway Station, and Prayagraj Junction. Railway personnel will roam the platforms and issue tickets to passengers. For this purpose, 10 M-UTS machines will be provided at Charbagh, Ayodhya, and Varanasi. Five machines will be provided at Prayagraj Junction, resulting in a total of 35 machines.
To collect tickets, uniformed railway personnel will approach you. They will have an M-UTS machine in hand. You will tell them your destination, and they will print the ticket from the machine. Payment options will be available via both cash and UPI.
