The BHIM app, which is giving new impetus to Digital India, will now give every member of the family the freedom to make UPI payments. NPCI BHIM Services Limited (NBSL) has launched the ‘Full Delegation’ feature in UPI Circle, which allows a primary user to authorize up to five secondary users.
BHIM UPI Circle: In the era of digital payments, every family member now has the opportunity to use UPI without having to add their own bank account. NPCI BHIM Services Limited (NBSL) has launched the new ‘Full Delegation’ feature of UPI Circle on the BHIM app, which allows primary users to authorize up to five secondary users. This allows senior citizens, teenagers, or employees to make independent payments up to a monthly limit of ₹15,000. The primary user can maintain complete control by setting the limit and duration (from 1 month to 5 years).
How does the feature work?
The primary user goes to the UPI Circle section in the BHIM app and sends an invite to the secondary user by entering their mobile number or UPI ID. After selecting a relationship, uploading documents, and setting a monthly limit, they approve with their UPI PIN. If the secondary user accepts the request, payments will begin after a short cooling period. All transactions will be reflected in the primary’s bank statement under UPI Circle, maintaining transparency. This is possible without a personal UPI ID or bank account.
Who will benefit the most?
– Senior citizens: Tech-hesitant parents can handle daily shopping themselves.
– Young children: College students will be able to manage canteen or transport payments without cash.
– Small businesses: Owners will be able to assign fuel or toll payments to employees.
NBSL MD Lalita Nataraj said that this feature will strengthen the UPI ecosystem, increasing the use of both partial (approval on every transaction) and full delegation.
Step-by-step setup process
1. Open the BHIM app, tap UPI Circle.
2. Select ‘Invite to Circle’, enter the secondary number/UPI ID.
3. Select ‘Approve Monthly Limit (Full Delegation)’.
4. Select the relationship, submit KYC documents.
5. Set the limit (maximum Rs. 15,000/month) and validity.
6. Select your bank and enter your UPI PIN. Accept the secondary.
This feature is an extension of UPI Circle, launched in 2024, which will enable financial inclusion in Digital India. Other apps will soon integrate. Security and control will provide relief to families and businesses.
