Delhi old vehicle Rules: To curb air pollution in the national capital Delhi, preparations have been completed to crack down on old diesel and petrol vehicles. Dr. Virendra Sharma, technical member of the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM), said on Friday that from July, ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) cameras will be installed at all petrol pumps in Delhi, which will be able to identify vehicles whose prescribed age limit has been completed.

Dr. Sharma said that vehicles below BS6 and overage vehicles will now be seized at the petrol pump itself. For this, a special task force has also been formed, which will inspect different areas and petrol pumps and take strict action against those who violate the rules.

He said, “This step is part of the Delhi government’s efforts to improve air quality. Now the rules will be strictly followed, vehicle owners who have overage vehicles should be alert.”

Dr. Sharma informed that ANPR cameras have been installed on major highways of Delhi, through which old vehicles coming from other states are also being identified. This technology is capable of checking the details of the vehicle by scanning the number plate without any human intervention.

He claimed that this winter the pollution level in Delhi will be much lower than before, because the situation will improve due to constant monitoring and strict action.

Let us tell you that the BJP government of Delhi has been strict about pollution from the very beginning. The government has taken many precautionary steps to deal with pollution. A big initiative has started regarding garbage management in Delhi. The mountains of garbage that have been accumulating for years are now on the verge of becoming history. The government plans to eliminate these landfill sites in the next one year and set up green energy projects in their place.
