Ola Electric Layoffs: Electric scooter manufacturer Ola Electric will lay off 5% of its workforce as part of a restructuring effort. The company said in a statement that it is focusing on speed and discipline through increased automation in its front-end operations, and building a more streamlined organization poised for long-term, profitable growth.

Ola Electric is currently not profitable. Its sales declined for most of FY2026, while its rival Ather Energy and older companies TVS Motor and Bajaj Auto overtook it. Moneycontrol has learned from sources that Ola Electric initiated a major internal restructuring campaign in March 2025. This resulted in the layoffs of approximately 1,000 employees across the sales, distribution, and marketing departments.

Layoffs were also carried out in November 2024.

The company previously implemented similar layoffs in November 2024, affecting at least 500 employees. Several top-level executives at Ola Electric have resigned. In December 2024, Chief Marketing Officer Anshul Khandelwal and Chief Technology Officer Suvonil Chatterjee resigned from their positions.

Layoffs at Zupee

Gaming and entertainment platform Zupee is laying off approximately 200 employees, representing approximately 40 percent of the startup’s total workforce. Gaming startups are still grappling with the impact of the government’s new online gaming law, which completely bans real-money games (RMG). Zupee stated that the layoffs are part of its efforts to build a strong, future-ready business in response to the changing regulatory and market environment. Inc42 first reported this development. Previously, the startup had eliminated 170 jobs in September 2025.
