OTT Platforms Big News: Now after TV, OTT platforms will also cost more, these plans of Amazon Prime are going to be expensive

TV channels are going to be expensive from December. Now OTT platforms are also preparing to spend more. It started with Amazon confirming to increase the rates of Prime.

Common people are already troubled by the increased prices of petrol-diesel to onion-tomato. Now to entertain yourself in free time is also going to be expensive. From December, not only will you have to spend more money to watch TV channels, but now OTT platforms are also going to be expensive. Amazon has started this by agreeing to increase the rates of the plan of Amazon Prime.

Amazon has confirmed that the Prime plan is expensive

According to a Times of India news, Amazon has accepted to increase the rates of Prime. For the past several days, there were speculations that Amazon Prime plans are going to be expensive. However, till now nothing has been said officially from the company about this. This is the first time the company has confirmed this. The confirmation of increasing the rates of Amazon Prime comes at a time when the e-commerce company’s festive season sale is going on.

Amazon Prime plans will become so expensive

There are three plans available for Amazon Prime right now. Amazon Prime’s monthly plan is currently Rs 129, which will be increased to Rs 179. Similarly, Amazon Prime’s three-month plan (Prime Quarterly Plan) will now cost Rs 459 instead of Rs 329. Amazon Prime’s annual plan is currently Rs 999. After increasing the rates, this plan will become Rs 1,499. However, the company has not yet told when all the three plans are going to be expensive.

Watching TV will be expensive from December

Earlier, major broadcasters like Zee, Star, Sony and Viacom18 decided to exclude some channels from the bouquet. These broadcasters have taken this decision after the implementation of the new tariff order of the regulator TRAI. After this decision, people watching TV channels may have to spend up to 50 percent more to watch their favorite channels. These changes are going to be effective from December this year.

Rates have not increased for five years

Let us tell you that Amazon started the Prime service five years ago. When it was introduced in India in 2016, it was available for Rs 499 under the initial offer. After the initial offer ended, Amazon Prime’s annual plan was reduced to Rs 999. Since then the rates of the plan have not been increased till now.

Here are the plans of Netflix, Disney Hotstar

Compared to other OTT platforms, Amazon Prime is the cheapest right now. If you look at the major competitor Netflix, its cheapest monthly plan is Rs 199. In this plan, content can be viewed only on mobile or tablet. The video quality is also low in this. Netflix’s Standard plan is available at Rs 649 per month. The cheapest plan of Disney Hotstar is available at the rate of Super 899 rupees annually. This plan also comes with an add-on and can be viewed on only two devices. Hotstar’s premium plan is Rs 1,499.
