Pakistani Asif Ali Zardari also reached out to the UAE to negotiate a deal, pleading with Mohammed bin Zayed.

Asif Ali Zardari met UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed and separately met Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, a UAE minister, and the managing director of the AD Ports Group.

Following the visit of United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to India, Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari has also arrived in the UAE. He met with the UAE President on Tuesday (January 27, 2026) and discussed ways to strengthen Pakistan’s relations with the UAE.

According to a report by Pakistani news channel Sama TV, Asif Ali Zardari discussed bilateral relations with Mohammed bin Zayed, exploring new opportunities in trade, investment, energy, infrastructure, and technology. Asif Ali Zardari said that Mohammed bin Zayed’s recent visit to Pakistan was very important for him and praised the UAE’s continued support to strengthen bilateral relations. Mohammed bin Zayed visited Pakistan on December 26 on an official visit.

This meeting between Asif Ali Zardari and the UAE President comes just days after Mohammed bin Zayed visited India. During his visit, the two countries signed a Letter of Intent, agreeing to strengthen strategic defense partnership, space cooperation, energy, and economic ties. This agreement aims to double bilateral trade to $200 billion by 2032 and promote investment in India. Mohammed bin Zayed visited India for two to three hours on January 19th, signing important agreements and discussing ways to enhance bilateral cooperation.

Asif Ali Zardari’s meeting with Mohammed bin Zayed was also attended by Pakistan’s First Lady and the President’s daughter, Bibi Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi, and Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UAE.

Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari also met separately with UAE Minister Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan and Juma Al Shamisi, Managing Director of the AD Ports Group. The AD Group has long been an investor in Pakistan. In both meetings, Pakistan emphasized strengthening bilateral relations with the UAE, promoting tolerance, and expanding economic partnerships.

In his meeting with the Managing Director of the AD Group, Asif Ali Zardari stated that the company’s investments represent an important pillar of economic cooperation for Pakistan. According to reports, the two sides agreed to expand port infrastructure, enhance trade activities in line with innovation, and improve digital and customs facilities.
