Why is Linking PAN to Aadhaar Important?
If you haven’t yet linked your PAN card to Aadhaar, do so soon. The Income Tax Department has set the deadline for this as December 31, 2025. After this date, your PAN card will be deactivated from January 1, 2026. A small negligence can hinder your major financial plans, so complete this process in time.
Process to Link PAN Card with Aadhaar
- Go to the Income Tax e-filing portal: https://www.incometax.gov.in/iec/foportal/
- Click on the “Link Aadhaar” option at the bottom left of the homepage.
- Now enter your 10-digit PAN number and 12-digit Aadhaar number.
- Follow the on-screen instructions and complete the ₹1,000 payment.
- Submit all the details.
- The portal will accept your request and the linking process will begin.
How to check whether Aadhaar is linked with PAN or not
- Go to the https://www.incometax.gov.in/iec portal and select the “Link Aadhaar Status” option.
- Now enter your PAN and Aadhaar number.
- You will see on the screen whether your PAN is linked to Aadhaar or not.
