There is good news for Patna residents. Patna Metro Rail Corporation is going to start metro service soon. In the first phase, the metro will run from New ISBT to Bhootnath Road. The fare will be from 15 to 30 rupees. Seats will be reserved for women and disabled people in the metro and modern facilities like charging and panic button will also be available.
The wait of the residents of the capital for the high-speed journey i.e. metro is going to end soon. Patna Metro Rail Corporation (PMRC) is finalizing the preparations for operating the metro for the general passengers. In the first phase, it will run from New ISBT Metro Station to Bhootnath Road.
It will operate from 8 am to 10 pm. Metro will be available at every station at an interval of every 20 minutes. Metro will make 40 to 42 trips daily. The fare from New ISBT to Zero Mile will be Rs 15 and to Bhootnath Road it will be Rs 30.
In the three-coach Patna Metro, 147 passengers will be able to travel sitting and 945 passengers standing. 12 seats each will be reserved for women and Divyangs in each train. There will be a facility for mobile and laptop charging in the metro coach.
Each coach will have a red panic button near all the doors. If a passenger presses this button, the focus of the CCTV camera installed in the coach will go to that passenger. The entire scene will be visible on the display board near the driving seat. The staff present there will respond immediately and ask the reason for pressing the button, so that the passenger’s problem can be resolved immediately.
The Patna Metro will be fully air-conditioned. All doors will be automatic. Information and announcements about the next station will keep running on the display board inside the coach.
First phase operation
In the first phase, the primary corridor will include New ISBT, Zero Mile and Bhootnath Road stations. This corridor is completely elevated. The total cost of Patna Metro is Rs 13,925.5 crore, with contributions from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the Central Government and the Bihar Government.
The two corridors of Patna Metro, Red Line (16.86 km) and Blue Line (14.56 km), will have a total of 24 stations. The full operation of the first phase is likely to start by 2027.

- Automated ticket counters, digital information boards and public address systems.
- Rest areas, catering stalls and retail shops.
- Special arrangements for the disabled and senior citizens.
- CCTV, emergency buttons and security personnel.
