Now everyone has UPI apps like Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm in their phones. But at this time a notification is being sent by Google Play, due to which people are worried. Actually, the thing is that in a notification sent by Google Play, it was said that Paytm UPI will not be able to work from this 31st August. Since then, people are saying different things on social media and many types of fake messages are also going viral. Keeping this in mind, the company itself had to come in front of the people. Let us know what has been said by the company, is Paytm really going to be closed?
On which users will this change be applicable
Paytm said that this change will be applicable only to those users who use @paytm handle for recurring payments like YouTube Premium, Google One Storage or other subscriptions. It will not have any effect on normal users. However, affected users will have to replace their old @paytm handle with a new handle such as @pthdfc, @ptaxis, @ptyes or @ptsbi. For example, if your UPI ID is rakesh@paytm, it can now be rakesh@pthdfc or rakesh@ptsbi (depending on your bank).
Those who have @paytm handle, do this
Switch to a new Paytm UPI ID linked to your bank like @pthdfc, @ptaxis, @ptyes or @ptsbi. Then make payment through other UPI platforms like Google Pay or PhonePe. Use debit or credit card for frequent payments.
Company head gave assurance
Paytm chief Vijay Shekhar Sharma has assured customers that their money transactions will continue without any interruption as before. This change from August 31 is just a part of the technical process. This change is being implemented after the approval of the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). Paytm has been allowed as a Third Party Application Provider (TPAP) and under this, new UPI handles have been launched.
This notification of Google Play had scared everyone
Let us tell you that a notification sent by Google Play had scared all the users, which said that Paytm is going to close by August 31. However, Google Play had issued this notification because the deadline for updating UPI handles for recurring payments is August 31, 2025.
The notification sent by Google Play said that after August 31, @paytm UPI handles will not be accepted on Google Play. This rule will come into effect from September 1, 2025. This incomplete information had confused the users. Which has now been cleared by Paytm.
