Videos of long queues at petrol pumps have emerged from several parts of the country over the past 24 hours. Meanwhile, amid rumors about petrol and diesel shortages in Jalna, Maharashtra, the administration has taken a major step. In response to the massive crowds at petrol pumps, the administration has issued new guidelines.

Indeed, long queues at many locations have created a temporary imbalance between the demand and supply of petrol. The district administration has issued special orders under the Essential Commodities Act 1955. According to the order, the maximum limit for refueling has been set at ₹200 for two-wheelers and ₹2,000 for three-wheelers and four-wheelers.

In addition, a strict ban has been imposed on providing fuel in cans, bottles, or any other containers. Violators have also been warned of strict legal action.

The district administration has appealed to citizens not to believe rumors and to purchase fuel only as needed. There are 126 petrol pumps operating in the district, and the supply of petrol, diesel, and domestic gas has been reported to be fully operational.

The administration has also clarified that there is no fuel shortage. Instructions have been given to prioritize fuel for ambulances and vehicles involved in essential services. Additionally, it has been made mandatory to display information about available stock on display boards at all petrol pumps. The District Magistrate and the administration have appealed to all citizens to maintain restraint and avoid unnecessary crowding at petrol pumps.
