TRAI Action on Spam Numbers: TRAI has again blocked millions of phone numbers. It has also advised people that instead of simply blocking calls from spam numbers, it is better to report them through the DND app.
Phone Numbers Blocked: The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) continuously takes action against spam and fraudulent phone numbers and blocks them. Now, TRAI has again blacklisted over 2.1 million mobile numbers and nearly 100,000 organizations. It also urges people to not only block such numbers on their phones but also report them on the DND app. To do this, learn how to report them on the DND app.
TRAI Action
TRAI recently blocked 2.1 million phone numbers. These are the same numbers that were reported through the Do Not Disturb (DND) app. This means that TRAI blocks numbers that receive the most complaints from citizens. Based on complaints filed on the DND app, TRAI and telecom companies identify fake numbers, and after investigation, they are permanently blocked.
TRAI’s Request
TRAI has also advised people that whenever they receive a spam call, they should not only block it on their personal devices. They should also report it using the DND app. Blocking a number only on their personal devices will prevent them from receiving calls, but it can still harass other people. And when you report a number through the DND application, TRAI permanently blocks it.
