PhonePe Without PIN Transaction: Most people in India now make online payments, and UPI has become the preferred method. Mobile payments are commonplace everywhere, from grocery stores to cabs, food delivery, and shopping. Amidst this surge in digital transactions, PhonePe has made a significant change. Now, entering a PIN will no longer be necessary every time you make a UPI payment.
The company has introduced biometric authentication, allowing users to make payments using fingerprint or face unlock. This feature has been introduced to make the payment process easier, faster, and less hassle. To learn how you can use this feature and which phones are currently offering this feature, read the full story.
Payments up to ₹5,000 without a PIN
If you use UPI frequently for small purchases, then this news is very important for you. UPI transactions up to ₹5,000 can now be made without entering a PIN. For low-value transactions, the smartphone’s native security system will be used as a secondary authentication factor. This means that for everyday payments like groceries, food, medicine, or small purchases, fingerprint or face recognition alone will be sufficient.
These phones will offer this feature.
However, a UPI PIN will still be required for large transactions. This ensures no compromise on PFM security. The company states that this feature will reduce disruptions in the payment flow and help users complete transactions faster. Currently, this feature is only available for Android smartphone users. It will be rolled out to iPhone users in the future.
How to use this feature?
Activating this feature is easy. First, open the PhonePe app and go to your profile section. You’ll find the “Manage Payments” option. Then, tap the “Biometric Pay” icon. Enable biometric authentication for UPI payments for your bank account.
During the first setup, you’ll need to confirm with both your UPI PIN and biometrics. Once this process is complete, you won’t need to enter a PIN for transactions up to ₹5,000. The phone’s built-in fingerprint or face unlock system will act as a second layer of security.
