Pink Saheli Smart Card: The Delhi government is implementing several new schemes for the people, which are proving to be very beneficial. Now, the government has launched a new facility for women and transgender people. Under this scheme, Pink Saheli Smart Cards will be distributed. Around 50 centers have been set up in the capital for this purpose. Card distribution began at these centers on Tuesday. This Pink National Common Mobility Card, designed for women and transgender people, was launched by President Draupadi Murmu.
Pink Saheli Card
This card has been issued under the One Nation, One Card scheme. This card provides free bus travel to eligible women and transgender individuals. This single smart card can also be used on the metro and other public transport.
What to do to obtain the card?
The Delhi government is distributing Pink Saheli cards to facilitate this facility. District Magistrate (DM) offices, Sub-District Magistrate (SDM) offices, and some Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) depots have been designated as card distribution centers. Cards are being distributed at all 50 centers daily from 9 am to 5 pm. Women and transgender individuals can visit these centers to obtain their cards.
Each Pink Card will be linked to the beneficiary’s mobile number and Aadhaar. This will verify age, gender, and residence in Delhi. This new card will replace the current paper Pink Ticket. Bus travel will become touch-free and digital, and travel records will be digitally stored. This will increase transparency in the entire process. This card will provide free travel on Delhi’s DTC and cluster buses. The same card can also be used to pay fares on the Delhi Metro and RRTS, making it easier to travel on different transport services with a single card.
How many types of cards will be issued?
Pink Card – For eligible women
Blue Card – For general travelers
Orange Card – For monthly pass holders
However, currently, the Pink and Blue cards are being issued in the first phase. The Orange card will be introduced later. The government has decided that the Pink card will be completely free. Its distribution has been assigned to Hindon Mercantile Limited and Airtel Payments Bank Limited.
