PM Kisan Yojana Kisan ID: The 20th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme has been released. Under this scheme, an amount of ₹ 2,000 has been sent to the accounts of crores of farmers across the country through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). But now the rules have been made more strict for new farmers.
If you want to add a new name in this scheme, then now you must have a farmer ID. This new rule has been implemented in 14 states.
Why was the rule of Kisan ID implemented?
The government’s aim is that the benefits of the scheme reach only real farmers, not those who do fake registration or middlemen. In many cases it was seen that non-farmers took the money of this scheme by giving wrong documents. Making Kisan ID mandatory will curb such fraud.
Will the amount of PM Kisan Yojana increase?
Some people expected that the amount of ₹ 6,000 would increase, but Minister of State for Agriculture Ramnath Thakur told the Lok Sabha that the government has no such idea at the moment. That is, the amount will remain the same, but now the eligibility will be checked and confirmed.
How to get a Kisan ID?
The government, along with the states, is preparing a digital farmer database. In this, your land, crop and other information will be added digitally.
For Kisan ID, you can go to the local agriculture office or Common Service Center (CSC) and get registered. Carry important documents like Aadhaar card, land papers, bank details with you.
Methods of registration
States have adopted several methods for the registration of farmers in this. These include:
- Self-registration means farmers apply themselves
- Registration by visiting CSC center
- Through state agriculture or revenue officers
- ‘Assistant mode’ in which local officials help
What is PM Kisan Yojana?
The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme was started in the year 2019. Its purpose is to provide financial assistance to small and marginal farmers. Every year an amount of ₹ 6,000 is sent to the farmers in three installments in their bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
With this money, farmers can meet the expenses of seeds, fertilizers, irrigation or minor expenses. So far, more than ₹ 3.90 lakh crore has been given to crores of farmers across the country through this scheme.
Which farmers do not get the benefit?
The benefit of this scheme is available only to those farmers who have cultivable land. But if a farmer’s income is high or he is in some special profession (like doctor, engineer, government officer etc.), then he is excluded from this scheme.
