PM Kisan Yojana: With the beginning of 2026, millions of farmers across the country are awaiting the 22nd installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme. However, this time, the ₹2,000 installment will be received only after completing certain necessary formalities. If any of these procedures remain incomplete, the installment may be delayed.

Installation may be delayed if Farmer ID is not available.

A unique Farmer ID is now required to receive benefits under the PM-KISAN scheme. The government has clarified that farmers who do not have a Farmer ID will not receive the next installment, even if they have completed e-KYC.

What is a Farmer ID?

Farmer ID is a unique digital identity linked to Aadhaar and the state’s land records system. Any changes to land records automatically update the information in the Farmer ID.

This benefit is that it makes it easier for farmers to avail benefits of various government schemes and improves market access.

What is the PM-KISAN Scheme?

PM-KISAN is one of the world’s largest Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) schemes. Its purpose is to provide financial assistance to all landholding farmers and their families in the country. This scheme was launched on February 24, 2019.

How to get Rs. 6,000 every year?

Under this scheme, eligible farmers are given a total of Rs. 6,000 per year. This amount is disbursed in three equal installments, meaning Rs. 2,000 is transferred directly to the farmers’ bank accounts every four months.

So far, the government has released 21 installments. The last installment, i.e., the 21st installment, was released by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 19, 2025, from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.

When may the 22nd installment arrive?

According to reports, the 22nd installment of PM-KISAN may be released between February and March 2026. However, the government has not yet announced an official date for this.

Farmers should regularly check the PM-KISAN portal for updates.

e-KYC is still mandatory

The Agriculture Department has clarified that e-KYC is required to receive PM-KISAN benefits. Farmers who have not completed e-KYC may face a suspension of their installments. Farmers can easily complete e-KYC through certain methods:

  • PM-KISAN website
  • PM-KISAN mobile app
  • Or biometric KYC by visiting the nearest CSC center.

Farmers can use any of these methods to complete their e-KYC.

How to check PM-KISAN status

After the 22nd installment is released, farmers can check their status by visiting pmkisan.gov.in. To do this, follow the process below.
